Manish Sharma, Jyotishacharya of Ujjain, this festival is celebrated on the night of the Chaturdashi date of Falgun month Krishna Paksha when the Sun is in Aquarius and Lunar Capricorn. Trayodashi Tithi will continue till 5.36 pm on 21st February, after which Chaturdashi Tithi will start. Shivaratri is the festival of night and the night of 21 February will be Chaturdashi Tithi, so this year this festival will be celebrated on 21 February. This time on MahaShivratri 2020 117 years after Shani, Guru and Venus are becoming rare.
Rare Yoga was formed in 1903
According to Pt Sharma, this year, on Mahashivratri 2020, Saturn will be in its own zodiac Capricorn and Venus will be in its zodiac sign Pisces. According to Pt Sharma, this is a rare yoga, when both these big planets will remain in this position on Mahashivratri 2020. A similar yoga was formed on 25 February 1903 before 2020 and Shivaratri was celebrated. This year, Guru is also situated in his own sign Sagittarius. By doing Shiva Puja in this yoga, one can get freedom from the defects of Shani, Guru and Venus. On February 21, there will also be Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga. This yoga is considered very auspicious for worshiping and to start new works.

This year Saturn entered Capricorn on 23 January. Shivaratri i.e. on 21 February will be lunar along with Saturn. Venus Yoga is being formed due to the combination of Saturn and Moon. Before this year, Venus Yoga was formed on 2 March 1992 on Shivratri, almost 28 years ago. In this yoga, special worship should be done for Shani and Chandra. The importance of Shiva worship has increased on this day with the formation of this yoga on Shivratri. In the horoscope, it is advisable to do Shiva Puja to remove the defects of Shani and Chandra.
Budhaditya and snake yoga will also be on Mahashivratri 2020
On February 21, Mercury and Sun will be together in Aquarius, due to which Mercury-Aditya Yoga will be formed. Apart from this, all planets will remain between Rahu and Ketu on this day, due to which a snake is also being formed. On Shivaratri, Rahu will be in Gemini and Ketu will be in Sagittarius. All the remaining planets will remain between Rahu and Ketu. Sun and Mercury will be in Aquarius, Saturn and Moon in Capricorn, Mars and Guru in Sagittarius, Venus will be in Pisces. Being in the midst of all the planets Rahu and Ketu will create a snake yoga.
